R50/53 Does anyone know if the 8 speaker Harmon Karden stereo comes
I know it is not due until Dec, but I may be ordering a 2003, and if so, will get the upgrade stereo. Does it have a cassette option? I asked the sales person, and she wasn't sure, but she said she would talk to the rep on Tues. Also has anyone heard the system? Is it worth the additional money?
Does anyone have info on this? No rush. Will not be ordering right away.
Thanks,
Steve

Cassettes?......what are those?
From what I understood at the dealership that I DIDN'T originally end up dealing with, is that it's either a casstte player or a cd player. Can't have both. But at the time of ordering the HK system wasn't ready. Therefore details may be sketchy. Double check and wait for word from the horses mouth. That way you'll know for sure.
It is a bit of a pricey option though for the upgraded HK sound. Like it has been said before in different threads, you'd be better off getting an aftermarket setup for that kind of clams, and still most likely have some extra cash left over, depending on what all you get.
Cheers,

I know the regular AM/FM comes with cassette option that is wired for 6 CD changer. Thats what I have now, so I can listen to cassettes (when recorded from CD to good cassette on metal quality tape, I think the sound of cassette is more accurate across sound spectrum than CD, which to me has always lacked the richess in the bass/low midrange, and overcompensates with upper range-- kind of a tinny sound) and switch to 6 CD changer at the flick of a button.
I didn't know if the HK stereo also came with a cassette option. Are there other after market options for stereos that are superior to HK. Unless the alternative was spectacular, I would tend to stick with the HK, factory install, so if something goes wrong, there is not the possibility of my after market stereo voiding the mini warrenty.
