Hi Southwind!
I'm in MA, but know nothing about classic MINIs...so my opinion would unfortunately be worthless. BUT, I might suggest that you give a call to MINI of Peabody (the MINI dealer located in Peabody, MA) and ask to speak to one of their salespeople by the name of Harach (I've spelled that phonetically, but if you ask for that name, you'll get the right guy). This guy is one of the primary classic MINI experts on the east coast and there's a really good chance that he actually knows the subject car (he's president of the local New England classic MINI club and owns something like a dozen of them). Anyway, he can either tell you about the car, hook you up with someone who can, or perhaps go see it for you. If you're into old MINIs, he'll be a blast to talk to as well.
(and come to think of it, there's a slight chance that he may be the guy selling the car you're interested in...in which case, my suggestion is also worthless

>>Funny, that's exactly what I tried to post, but I hit cancel instead of submit. I agree that Hrach Chekijian at MoP is the person to ask.
ditto from here...........this guy actually has a classic mini museum in the adjacent town of Swampscott.I also have a brother in law who owns the Napa auto parts store in Marblehead,he's worked for formula one creator Autodynamics and was on a pit crew for another local vintage race car driver,Jim Mullen.I'm sure he would love to scope out this car for you. PM me if interested and I'll give him a call and see if he'ld be willing. Holdenontoit
