So I found an engine (short block) and the part number appears to be: W11B16D?

Complete part number is: W11B16D751Q545

Also shows: PBS0510SEH PN, 7520126 01, 01065531 SN on the sticker

Looks like it might be a S 1.6 shortblock but I can't find any with a "D" suffix.

Anyone have any info on decoding these numbers?

the W11B16 is the S engine. Not sure what else you are wanting to know.

 

When I search for part numbers the W11B16 comes up but always with a "A" or "B" after the number, trying to figure out specific year and fitment.

 

Is it possible to use an S shortblock on a non-S engine? Considering possibly turbocharging the car in the future.

 

not without tuning. The W10 is a high compression engine. The DME might now work well unaltered with the lower compression of a W11.

After reading this post I have a question about the A or B after the W11B16, the sticker on my Cooper S 2005 has a "D" after it. W11B16D###S###. The number underthis says 7541061 02 (don't know what this number is? is 02 the year?, I'm original owner of my 2005 and only taken to dealership for service.

Trying to verify that my parts are in fact my original parts.

On my supercharger intake I see a long number with a 17511523431-03 stamped on it??? I believe the long number is the part number but it does not show a -03 on realoem.

Anyone with any info regarding the -03 would be appreciated

i have the same engine code in my mini cooper s 2003, it's an W11B16DxxxQxxx, i have searched information about this engine but nothing, i have diag equipement, and i entered to engine module, i noticed something anormal, in max power output it should be 115KW, but in mine i have 110KW, (of course my car is supercharged) and the strange thing is that in Fuel type, i have leaded fuel!!!!! i think that's because my car was bought from Morocco and it got equipement for leaded fuel, because in 2003 in moroccan fuel pump, they was leaded and unleaded fuel, and for security maybe BMW sell only cars prepared for leaded fuel.
i think that's why my car gor an W11B16D engine and not W11B16A.
also in the fuel cap cover i got ROZ/RON 91-98, nothing about unleaded fuel only.
that's all information that i have.

I just did my own query with parts department I got the sheet on my car and mine is correct, the D is part of the last series of numbers after the W11B16, not all start with A.
