What upgrades can I do with my R50 03 Mini?

I just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper, base. I like the tires on the Cooper S model (2003) Would I be able to put those on mine?

What is a good exhaust systems for this model cooper?
Is there a good site I can look at for upgrades? Forgive me, I'm a newbie.

Thanks!

Nice Cooper! Here is a long thread to get you started:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ds-cooper.html

I've done new wheels and tires (lighter to save weight.) replaced the rear sway bar with a stiffer Alta bar, dropped in a Cold Air Intake to make a little more power and a nice sound, a Borla cat-back exhaust for a little more power and a better sound, SprintBooster to make the gas pedal nice and reactive, and I just bought a set of coilovers to lower it and improve the handling. There's a lot to do, the car is a LOT more fun than it was stock. Read through that thread, use the search function, and you'll find plenty of ideas.

Good Luck!

Upgrade to a CAI (cold air intake), add a rear sway bar, and upgrade the exhaust and you'll have a very nice justa. (Just a Cooper.) Exhaust systems vary greatly; it depends how loud you want to go. I have an OBX on mine and like the subtle drone when I'm on the gas. You can put whatever tires you want, within the MINI size ranges. Check the marketplace on this forum; you can often find used parts at good prices. Are you from Beantown?

My '02 R50 has a CAI and Borla exhaust. Give a nice town for such a small motor.

I put a Megan Racing cat-back exhaust on my 02' R50. Im really pleased with it. I like the little burbles you get when you let off the gas. And for wheels, I have nice MINI 8 spoke aluminum 17'' rims for the summer. Check out tirerack.com for new or look around the forums here for some used rims. I have put little chrome bits on here and there, checkered mirror caps. I put a new radio (head unit) which was really easy. Along with new speakers. The list goes on, and dont be shy to DIY. Personalize and make it your car. Have fun.
