After a rain or car wash the rear hatch will drip water when the hatch is open. Any ideas where it's getting collected in the hatch and how I can waterproof it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Since this is the most recent thread... My 06 mcs sprung the rear boot area leak, tracked it down to two areas after gutting the whole back half of the car today. Small amount of water was weeping through a loose plug probably from the PO draining water from the battery well. The main source of water that was coming from the Hatch was the grommet around the wiper shaft going through the window. I didn't even really notice when washing the car that the grommet was absurdly loose... After closer inspection it seemed like it wasn't even the proper outside diameter. Used some clear silicone for a quick fix. I am just glad I had some blankets in the back or I could imagine I would have had a battery well with 2" of water in it.

 

I had the same problem with my 03, I sealed up the hatch hinge bolts with silicone and it never happened again.

also the third brake light leaks alot. if this is the case only fix is to replace third brake light. i see this often
