245/45r17 on 2005 CooperS

Will I have problems putting tires this size on a 2005?
Thanks Tom

Probably.
What wheels are you planning to use?
245 is very wide for the stock 7" wide wheels.
245/45 has a diameter 1.4" larger than the stock 205/45.
245/45 has a sidewall 0.7" thicker than stock.

If they work it will be very close and will most likely have everything to do with wheel offset & ride height (suspension)

Can't see it working unless you want to run insane negative camber and/or have your tires stick out past the wheel arches.

I have 225/50R16s on 7" wide wheels:

There's only .25"- .33" between the front struts, rear suspension arms, and the tires. This space is needed to accomodate sidewall flex.

Had to trim my rear fender liner, arches, and rear bumper to eliminate rubbing.

Unless you want to run insane negative camber and/or have your tires stick out past the wheel arches.

my $.02 .. suggest nothing wider than 215 section width tire ~ unless you are using non- stock wheels ... and are willing to do the mods (trim and such) discussed

FWIW ~ I have been running 215/40s on my stock 17" S lite wheels for years

225/45/17 should be the biggest, I ran that on stock suspension though.

215/45/17 would be perfect IMHO, although I'm currently looking for 16x7.5or8 wheels and putting either 215/45/16 or 225/45/16.
