I really, really would like to buy a Mini Cooper S. I just want to know how long I will have to wait to get the car I want, will it be weeks, months, I have heard as long as two years in cases, anyone have any info for me, or a personal experience.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but here in Hawaii (where there is one dealership for the entire state), I walked into the dealership and drove home in a new MINI on the same day. Keep in mind that I opted for a Cooper, but they also had at least three S models that were available for immediate purchase. It sounds like they're hard to come by elsewhere, but it's worth the wait. Already, people are starting to recognize me as the guy with the MINI. Good luck in your search...

Well, it really depends on where you live! I live in Maine, and am buying through Herb Chambers BMW of Boston (a great dealership), and my total wait time is going to be 4 months. I've heard current estimates from a friend who works there that if you order now, you'll get your "S" in October, or November! Mini of Peabody says the same... Along with that, some dealers will actually sell you their floor sample! My friend got an S that way 3 weeks ago, and only paid an extra $3,000 to his Electric Blue Cooper with Prem, and Sport packages... Granted, he lives in Illinois... Hope that helped!

It also depends on how far you want to drive from the dealer to you home. A friend of mine got his boxster back when they first came out. He spent a couple days on the phone calling dealers all over the country. wouldn't you know a dealer in Wisconsin had a couple on the lot (they're convertibles and it was the fall)

He bought it over the phone and had it shipped to San Francisco. Not sure of the expense but it wasn't outrageous, and there was only a couple day wait.
