R53 Brake Pedal Clicking

I have been looking at MCSs for awhile now trying to find one I like enough to buy. Well I found the one 04 MCS 6spd, only problem is when I went to start the car. I pressed the brake pedal and there was a clicking noise (the sound a starter solenoid makes with a low battery, that fast click, click, click). When the car is running is does not make the noise.
Can anyone tell what it is, or what I should look for?

Help me purchase this MCS!

Is this a 6 speed manual shift, or a 6 speed Agitronic (I don't know if Agitronic was 6 speed in '04). The reason I ask is because the symptom you describe seems like it might be the shifter lockout on a lot of automatic cars. I have not driven any iteration of Cooper auto.

Its a manual, thats what has me puzzled. It makes that relay click sound.

I figured the last "s" in MCSs meant standard, but unsure. This problem is a new one for me. Good luck either in sorting this, or if your search continues.

I went and drove the car last night. The clicking noise only happened the first time I pressed the pedal and could not repeat the sound at any time.
Is it possible that the ABS has a relay that is going bad?

I have a hard time getting under the car also to look, so I took some blind shots with my camera to see what I could find. Is this an oil pan leak or a crank seal leak?

so the clicking continues. last night the brake lights went. all the other bulbs work. changed the bulbs even though they looked good. checked the fuses. traced it down to the brake switch on the pedal arm. went to the BMW dealer and purchased a new switch $30 and now there is no click and a have brake lights.

i had a mechanic friend look for the clicking, and he confirmed that it was the ABS pump click.
