IMO, the MC40 is pretty close to the way it should have been, just a little off in the pricing.

If I were specing the MC40

- No Carbon Fiber dash

- Change from magnetics to painted exterior graphics.

- Change the suspension (struts, springs, swaybars) to make MINI that has a special suspension from the factory (with either autocross or road racing specifically in mind)

- R90 LE's (Limited Edition lightweight R90's)

FYI the official line is MINI had to go with magnetic graphics because of some state and local laws forbidding these type of graphics.

If I got a MC40, the first thing I'd do then would be to have all those magnets "copied" as painted graphics.

I certainly wouldn't want to run the risk of ghosting or having debris get under the magnets and scratching the paint. If you're going to do the special edition, might as well go all the way. In for a penny, in for a pound.

this is from my post earlier in the thread:

Oh and the dash has the JCW logo on it due to the fact that it is in fact a JCW piece - we'll be seeing more of that type of stuff later in the year. MINIUSA may even drop those logos from the final piece since it's plans changed for more JCW accessories on the MC40. Check this article out for more info: http://www.bridger.us/mini/?Y=2004&M...yBehindTheMC40

>>Well, after reading the MC40 description again, the CF dash actually adds weight. It's just the stock dash clad in carbon fiber.

Strong, light in weight, and beautiful stuff in my opinion. Change your opinion after seeing this hood?
No actually. I really don't like the lines in it. In fact, I hate it! I LOVE the smoothness and the depth that the MINI metallic paints have (such as my Dark Silver). Sorry, I'm just not a CF guy. Especially for its looks.
