GaUgEs?? ?

Quest to figure out adding gauges to project.

Many of you have gauges stroomed through out the drivers area that have a serious price tag attached.
I'd like to keep the clean look without all that cluster clutter.

Have thought about somehow using an IPad to display gauge reports.
Any thoughts?? ?

One main question on my mind is seeing as there can only be 2 on display at time can a check engine warning pop up for another.
Thx again Dave!

Garmin's got a multi-gauge display built into a GPS unit. Perhaps a little less enticing for thieves than an Ipad, or easier to tuck away in the same spirit.

I personally use the ScangaugeII for all the parameters that I can fit into the small display, it shows 4 at once, and it's pretty easy if I want to change which of the 4 I want to be displaying.

I haven't seen any for the ipad specifically but I know there's some OBDII readers and itouch/iphone apps that do the same basic thing, but I'm not sure of the compatibility and mounting options.

Doesn't need to be in eye view.
There is a factory NAV system installed so maybe something like this Garmin that could replace the screen & be able to download log reports.. .

a similar discussion in another thread asked, "what things do I want to monitor with added gauges?" (or words to that effect)

IMHO the top of the list is oil pressure . . . to wit, what are the aux gauges that came on the original Cooper? Oil pressure and coolant temp.... {the GEN1 MINI at least had a temp gau'}

Curiously none of the electronic multi-gauge solutions can read oil pressure ... or none I've seen anyway. It appears that oil pres' is NOT something tied into OBDII. This surprises me but ..... that's what ya got.

So if you want bling . . . display anything

If you want useful you just might have to hang at least ONE real gauge . . .
