Body control module BC1 problems... Need help.

Hey guys, it's been several months that I've noticed that my two brake lights and my left rear turn signal haven't been working... I decided to take the car to my Indy mechanic and after his inspection he told me I need to have my bc1 replaced.
I wanted to know if it's possible to purchase a used module or is it impossible to reprogram?
The piece is about 500$ new....

What options do I have?
Has anyone else experienced the same problems?

Any help would be appreciated!

See if your mechanic has access to the Aldata network and check if there is a diagnosis procedure. Ask him what procedure he used to diagnose the part to condem it. Its an expensive guess.

Unless your BCM has sustained some sort of water/moisture damage, somtimes BCM's can be re-coded to make their functions work properly again......maybe try having your dealer take a look at it.

I've got a couple odd electrical glitches that I've attributed to a bad BCM (gauge lights never go off, except for the stereo which never lights up; remote locking never works). Can't see how it would have got wet / failed, but the symptoms seem to fit. I've had stranger things happen...

My research suggests that $500 (plus labor to program it) is the going price for a new unit, and it can only be programmed to one car - so used is out of the question. YMMV.

have you tried replacing the bulbs? I wouldn't out and out condemn the BC1 the socket housings tend to go bad as well so check those by swapping them from side to side if your blinker starts working after you swapped the socket housing you know whats wrong.

Is there any way to test a bad BC1? Hate to say this, but recently attempted to jump my car with the terminals mixed up. :( Stupid me. Anyways, I blew my 100A fuse in the engine compartment (under the fuse box) and I replaced that. At first, I noticed that none of my brake lights (except for the third brake light) was working, but the running lights of the brake lights are working. Also, none of my turn signals were not working. After a while of driving, the passenger rear brake light works and the passenger front turn signal works. Everything else still doesn't work. I looked at my fuses and they are good and also changed the bulbs. After doing to research, I came to this thread and was wondering if it could be my BC1. Also, is there any other test or things I should check? Thanks!
