Interior experts...fitment of 2006 console with armrest into 2004, both s models

I have a 2004 MCS and have located a armrest/center console from a 2006 S hardtop. Since these look so different, I thought I would ask the experts if the 2006 console would fit in the 2004 without any modifications or fitment issues. It does appear that they are compatible but I am sure someone has done this before and can tell me the whole story. Appreciate the help .

Yes, it's a perfect fit. I just did this a few weeks ago. The support structure on the 05+ is longer, but the 05+ console fits right in on the shorter '04 support. Note that there appear to be slits in the carpet of the 05+ at the front where the two small tabs go. I left the carpet intact and just left them. They aren't very noticeable.

Thanks a million for the reply. I appreciate it very much. Think I will get the console with armrest. The 04 has zero storage for all my crap. I use a Scion xb as a daily and it has about a million storage areas everywhere. Just another adjustment I will overcome.
