How do I know if my 2004 MC has a rain sensor for the windshield? I have to get a windshield replacement because of a stress crack (not under warranty) and I was asked by the auto glass place if I the windshield had a rain sensor. I wasn't sure.

Also, if any one wants to recommend a place that does good work on windshields in the NYC (Brooklyn) area that would much appreciated

 

In my BMW Z4, there was a black box below the rear-view mirror, which was stuck onto the inside of the windshield. I know the Mini is similar. No box = no rain-sensing wipers. (I also had a different wiper control stalk/adjuster, but I don't know what Mini's looks like.)

 

If you have auto wipers, you have a sensor.....

 

They only go on when I turn them on so I would say they aren't auto. Mini said they would have been added as part of the convenience package which they said I do not have. So unless it was integrated outside of a Mini dealership, it should not be included on my car.
