Help! Vanishing power steering fluid

Hello, i currently own a 2004 MCS. Since i have owned it, i was informed that my power steering rack is in need of a replacement, however, the BMW dealer says i shouldnt have to replace the rack, being that its rare for the whole rack and pinion to crap out. But, when i had my wheels balanced, i got the car back and it was pouring power steering fluid. i had the leak stopped and drove the car on a road trip to SC. Now two weeks later, the resevior is empty and the boots dont seem to contain any fluid.. What gives? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Help me save Ms. Cooper

Not clear about your question.....where is your fluid" pouring" from, get under there and look .....anyways check yours hose clamps or just replace them with ones that can be screwed

Well last time before when it was leaking, it was going into the boots. Now i have no idea where its going as the boots are still soft and flimsy and not swollen

It may be leaking where the metal pressure hose leaves the pump. There's a rubber seal in there that can go bad. You'll nearly have to remove the pump to check

If it is leaking on the ground,

then you will find a blown hose or leaking attachment point most likely. If not, then yes still suspect the internal rack and it ends of in the boots. Unclamp and check if still unsure. Given the typical flex nature of tie rod boots they can hold more than you think. Had this issue on an old Audi 5000 that used the same hydraulic oil Mini's do. In the end, the only long term fix was to replace the rack, plus the fluid is kind of pricy to keep having to add it.
