R50/53 Out of state orders
MINI Juggling:
I live in Oregon. My dealer does not have their showroom built and would not take orders on the S (a few weeks ago they were not taking orders on ANY Coopers, S or no S). Late August I put a deposit on a MINI S at NW MINI, with a projected 9-12 month wait (they were great). After being on this site for a while I got a good jones going and had to see if I could get my MINI any sooner. I decided to contact my next two closest MINI dealerships. I contacted MINI of Concord via phone and email, and while waiting for their reply (took over a week) I contacted MINI of Murray and they said they would take my order with a deposit and have my MINI to me in roughly 6 months, with no dealer fees and no add-ons. I obviously placed my order with them immediately.
Concord MINI finally got back to me yesterday - they would only put me on a wait-list if I actually showed up at their dealership in person, and they have a $2499.00 markup on their S model. I wonder where that money goes?
Not all MINI dealerships are created equal!

I'll start with Club Med!, anyone else care to guess?
Surprised that Concord didn't get back to you sooner. Concord doesn't have a waiting list. They only accept orders. So they alert you to the number of orders they can place but you do have to show up in person to place the order. They don't take money down on the car. The reason I know this is that I went through the process and bought mine from Concord. Their belief is to try and keep the MINI sales local, so that way everyone locally has a chnace to buy the car.
I didn't mind paying the premium but than I also have been driving my MCS since the end of May. I got what I wanted to pay for.
BTW the money is going to the showroom and the convience to keep it open all the time. They were one of the first to have thiers open and almost completed with the extra bang before the rest of the Western Region. It is a nice show room.
