MPG surprise on the freeway

I hadn't really taken a long freeway drive since buying this car since most of my driving is 50/50 city vs. hwy, so I'm always hovering around 28 mpg. Took the coop up to Azusa (LA) to visit my buddy in college and when I came back down I reset the fuel econ. and got 37.9 mpg from there down to San Diego. Of course I wasn't pushin it on the way down, but hovering ~65 mph with the cruise control on. On the way up was going around 70 with AC on auto and got 35

this car amazes me

You will want to hand calc to double check the accuracy.

Out of my 4 MINIs, my '11 seems to have the most accurate mpg computer. It was less than a gallon off using calculator. But still, I believe you are getting pretty close to that since I've had similar performance at those same speeds and/or higher. What is good is that you have hills and I'm pretty much on flat land here.

Yeah I can only imagine what it'd be like on flat land. I will calc it out on my next fill up.

I wish I did more highway driving......I'm what...4-5 mpg from what a HYBRID with hardly any power would get? awesome.
