i think it depends on the color you get. some colors don't need the
aero kit where others like my color prefer to have one.

Generally - I like the Cooper with the Aero kit - while I prefer the MCS with the stock body trim. Pepper white always looks primo with the Aero Kit, whereas the Aero kit on Black get's a bit hidden.

I generally like the Aero Kit, but the problem with it is that the paint is aftermaket (Dubious durability) as the body pieces come blank from the factory.

Also keep in mind that many owners with the Aero Kit have complained about their low front airdams covered with excessive rock paint chips. If you get the Aero Kit, make sure to get a Clear Bra installed right away.

To me the Aero Kit looks best in Chili Red, Indy Blue and Pepper White (The Italian Job colors). I also think it looks nicer in the Cooper than in the MCS where it looks a bit excessive IMO.

Also if you get the kit, get bonnet stripes and rally lights to finish the look.

Good luck with your decision.

i am also pro aero kit. i am still kind of if'y (is that a word??lol) on the rear bumper cover. it's a bit rice for my taste and needs to have a good mount in the center bottom like the stock one does so it doesn't flex over every bump. i am going to put the stock bumper back on this summer and see how i like the 50/50 mix. but the side skirts and front are awsome. i knew from day one that i was getting the aero kit adn nothing else. see this threat for a look at my car.

I love my Full Aero Kit! It looks good coming and going. I was watching what I spent on my MCS so when I knew I had to get the Aero Kit, I just said No Leather, No Onboard computer, No NAV and No HK.

If you have questions about the Aero Kit, just PM me and I'll tell you everything I know.

It's all about personal taste and that's what makes these cars ...so similar... and so different

This is a good thing

I don't have an aero kit on my MCS....as it's not my style.

Simple stated.... if you like it ...buy it ......if not...don't

Peace,
D

The thing about the aero kit is I love the look of it with a red/white and a blue/white Mini Cooper S but does anyone else live in Michigan where the roads are horrible? I wonder how practical having the aero kit is despite my love for the look...

My aero kit is on a Michigan car. Feel free to PM me to take a look at it to see how it is holding up to the roads. But I love it, and really it's not that much lower than stock. Maybe an inch or so? The air dams at the bottom are at the same height I believe.

Thank you all for your help...I have decided to get the aero kit and forget about some other options that weren't that important.

Instead of the aero kit for my CR/W S, I had the dealer install just the black aero grilles on delivery. $200. I got 98% of the look for 6% of the price. ( I have bonnet & boot stripes, and PIAA lamps - $224 vs $700!)

I finally had the aero kit installed. I must say that I absolutely love it. For $960+$400 (paint), it's totally worth it. $400 includes painting the kit, arches, rims of the grilles, and some interior parts. Not a bad deal!

too much, get the clearbra installed. chips are inevidible on these aftermarket
paint. http://www.autoclearguard.com ryan has both xpel and invinca DIY shields.
im using Xpel right now. already saved me from quiet a few chips! must have
item for aftermarket paint.

I have a dark silver MCS and just purchased the side aero kit only. Had Bodymotion paint all the black trim and the skirts. It looks absolutly perfect. I did not want the front and rear bumpers. The rear aero from the factory uses a decal for "fake" grills. Really cheesy when they could have installed real grills. But the side skirts look just perfect with my MINI lowered!

Actually, if you owned the full aero kit and not just the side skirts, you'd find the back bumper cover is very good looking. I bought the Full Aero Kit because of how it would make my car look, not to have functioning metal grills.

I hand wash my car and as I wipe it down the back "grills" are not ugly or cheep looking. Yes, the bumper covers are made of fiberglass and not metal, but it is done quite nice and looks very good. It would cost allot more to have real metal bumper covers with real grills and it would really weigh the car down. Even the front grills are just black plastic, not a real grill.

I guess it's no more "fake" than the "metal" dash trim or "metal" door trim pieces - which I also like even though they are made of light weight plastic. The car is easy to wash! It wipes down real easy both inside and out!

and D-Mini -
you are 100% correct,
if it looks good in your eyes - buy it and if not, don't!

""Yes, the bumper covers are made of fiberglass and not metal, ""

None of the aero kit is fiberglass; it's all plastic molded, as is the factory original.

Originally, I intended to get the aero kit with driving lamps on my MCS...........then
decided not to dive right into it. Found that the traditional look grew on me and I
don't like driving lamps without the aero. So, here I am........happy as can be.....no
investment......and I can still change my mind if I choose to!

I'm Sorry I used the wrong word for Plastic.

Since we did not use the speed grilles we did not use the grilles on the rear of the mini either.

'fake' or not, that rear bumper grill is not really functional for anything...
neither are the side 'real' grills on the aero skirts. so im not sure what
the fuss is about the rear grill decal. i have it on, dont plan to take it off.
i might get a tint on there to make the metal-look a shade darker.

also i dont mean to sound like im cutting corners, but that decal is tons
easier to clean than the 'real' grill that is still non-functional.
