R50/53 R53 Rain Sensor - Adjustable?
R53 Rain Sensor - Adjustable?
Hi all,
I've recently had my windshield replaced. But now the rain sensor/auto setting does not work as well as it use to. Now it wipes every 5-6 seconds instead of adjusting to the speed and intensity of the rain.
The glass business changed the sensor twice now. I'm thinking maybe the sensitivity needs to be adjusted. One thing I noticed was that the "sensing" area on the exterior is much small than before. Maybe that has something to do with it...
Thanks for your help,
Peter

Was it replaced with OEM glass or an aftermarket glass?
Some aftermarket glass has caused problem with the rainsensor.
If your glass is NOT made by SAINT-GOBAIN SEKURIT, maybe even Splintex, it's not the OEM manufacturer. (You can get OEM glass without the MINI logo as well, as long as it is SAINT-GOBAIN SEKURIT or Splintex. Only the dealerships install with the MINI logo.)
There was only one variable changed since you had this problem, it was the glass. You changed the sensor, it's still not sensing properly, it's most likely the glass.
But, to answer your question, you can have the sensitivity changed, but only at the dealer or someone with the BMW software to "program" the car.
