HellO!

well maybe you remember that in a previous post I was asking about buyin a 2005 Mini Cooper S (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3251388) well I did buy it

can you help me with 4 things?

1st) do you know how can I configure DRL, follow me home, outside temp from F to C, current vehicle speed from Mi to Km, etc????

2nd) why when the selector level is on D and I press the shift paddles it shifts??? My logic says that it only has to do it when the selector lever is on S, right???

3rd) here is a photo of my motor bay, can you tell me if its complete or if something is missing???

4th) I haven't find the spare tire.... and my car doesn't have runflat's (its running on dunlop tires) what do I have to buy and keep in my trunk... a small compressor??? a lot of luck???

well I hope that's all for today, this week I will give it a very nice bath and post some pics in 1st gear

regards from Mexico!

1) Changing your DRL to read metric. You can change between US and Metric displays very easily if you have the automatic climate control on your MINI. With the ignition ON, press and hold the Auto button until the display changes.

I don't know how to change it if you have manual climate control.

2) Don't know about this, I don't have an automatic.

3) From your photo the only thing I see missing is the cover that is suppose to be on the positive battery cable junction to prevent it from shorting out. Other than than that I would suggest a good cleaning and service.

4) '05 MCS's did not come with spare tires, they had run flats. Run flats wear out quickly, are expensive to replace and don't ride or handle as well as premium non-run flat tires so many people (like me) don't use run flats. I carry a Slime Smart Spair (compressor and Slime sealant) and tire plugs.

2.) You can shift with the paddles regardless of wether the gearshift is in D or Sport mode. In Sport mode the shifts are crisper.

earlier post only changes things for the a/c unit

if by DRL you mean Daytime Running Lights, that function on a GEN1 can only be changed by the dealer. Changing the other functions to metric is explained in the owner's manual. Did u get one? They are available on line

All MINI-s come with runflats and no spare - and no space for a spare. If you want some ability to deal with a flat on the road then a plug kit and a compressor is recommended.

but truth is, if you trash a tire - really rip one up, you really need a spare.

In the states I count on AAA but even that is a risk as many MINI tire sizes are not readily available.
