What a great read. Thanks for sharing! It's amazing how the car really grows on you. I test drove it last year briefly, and thought, "it feels tight and handles well, but what's the big deal?" A few moths later I had a chance at another test drive, and it felt like lightning struck me. Finally, I understood.

fwiw, I had the same rear latch problem on my 04 MCS. They ended up replacing the latch assembly. Maybe they had a bad batch...
