Just curious. Mine is currently still in the "birthing canal" in Manchester. I asked my dealer to install racing stripes when it arrives but now I am having second thoughts. Maybe just a bit "busy?" I am wondering what the consensus here is on stripes. Mine will be Brit Racing Green w/ black top (I don't know, I just kind of liked the black with the green better than the white. 'Wife did too.). Thanks and happy motoring.

I vote for stripes...I think it helps give the MINI a more classic rally look. In your case, probably black ones, maybe with white borders? You can check out NAM sponsor cooperflags.com for lots of pictures.

If you go with stripes, I would reccomend looking at Cooper Flags, as they have a BUNCH of options and their product is FAR superior to the dealer decals.

You could wait... live w/o stripes for awhile...
I have thought of getting stripes, but then I
look at my car... ahhhhh, she is so beautiful
and so well designed, just as she is!

God speed.

I added stripes 3 months after buying the car and she looks even more beautiful now.

PS. Love the picture of the beagle. How old is he/she?

With the black roof on a BRG, I would go without stripes. I think they look better with a white roof, although I removed mine within 3 days of getting my MCS.

Now I have a set of magnetic checkerboard stripes that I put on when I am in a silly mood. . . .

I was not a fan of the stock MINI stripes.
but...
I now.... do enjoy most of the newly designed aftermarket stripes.

There are truly some great ideas floating around...or.... you can come up w/ ur own spin

Peace,
D

I added white Cooper Flags bonnet stripes to my Chilli Red/White MC a couple of months after I got it. I really like them and they were about $65. My wife and I installed them....no sweat and it looks as good as any factory or dealer installation.

Black would look best I think.

I vote FOR the stripes. I love the white stripes on my Chili Red MCS.

You may want to check out the Cooper Flags stripe selection in the "frost" color. Having a darker color like BRG will show these stripes really well and most important make your car a bit more "one off".

Before paying the dealer (BIG bucks) to do it check out cooper flags and see what you like and what that would cost.

I got the dealer stripes and not I'm changing them so I'm paying twice. Oh well, that's the story of my life.

Do the magnetic ones blow off? I mean I drive FAST as possible and would not want them to come off. I am looking at the magnetic numbers for the doors from cooper flags.

Went w/out on my PS/B MC. Tried some static cling black ones, but they wouldn't flatten completely, looked cheap up close, so I pulled them off. I've got the aero grill on a regular MC bumper, so that provides plently of contrast. I've got a CR/W MCS on order, and will be getting the stripes. I have had the understated look w/ my current ride, and am looking forward to the classic and very eye-catching contrast of the red and white. The stripes really help offset the profile of driving lights, which I'm also getting. With a white roof, white stripes would look great, like IB/W or BRG/W. With a subtle color combo like yours, I can't see any need for stripes.

I think racing stripes for myself. They give a character to my MCS that would make it look plain if I didn’t have them, but it’s your call and either way you go I’m sure you’ll love your new MINI.

By the way, MINIs are assembled in Oxford.

I can understand your rethinking this...I go back and forth on stripes, too. (...no stripes at present.) I have seen a BRG with black stripes/white edge that looked nice. One thing I debate often is the MINI/BMW placement of stripes vs the Mini Spares placement farther apart on the bonnet. I think I prefer this...I think it is even more traditional than the BMW placement...but I'm very much still undecided.

Thanks guys. So I can remove the dealer racing stripes. They are not permanent? Forgive me my ignorance. Darn newbies!

Yeah, the stripes are pretty easily removed. I definitely vote for the stripes. Black to match your roof. You can save yourself some money if you have a local sign shop. They can probably make any kind of stripes you can imagine and you'll save yourself quite a bit of money compared to the dealer or even Cooper Flags. I bought mine from Cooper Flags, but have since found a local shop that I would probably go to if I needed to replace mine or wanted a change. I paid $100 plus shipping for my stripes from CF and I've heard others mention that they got their stripes for much less from local places. Something to think about.

Votes or no votes, though, the right decision is whatever makes you happy.

if you do, choose to go with stripes don't have all black stripes, the BRG looks black at night, and you won't see them if anything,

do a stripe with a pinstripe outline like white or some other light color (white would be best)

I waited for delivery and first applied static cling stripes then decided that I like that sportiness is for me. So it depends on your personal taste. Just remember...after the stripes goes on...next will be sway bars, then wheels, then brakes, intake, exhaust, headers, springs, pully, ECU, rally lights, racing harnesses, etc, etc.... Don't say I didn't warn you

PS...I bought a roll of vinyl for $30 and trimmed them out with enough for another 10 Minis. Better to do it your self. The factory stripes are applied incorrectly and looks curved from straight on. It should look straight.
