'Service Engine' Reset?

Wife had to have a Mini. So, two years ago she got her wish with an '06 coupe with CVT automatic and 33K miles in primo condition. Purchased from the dealer with their 100K mile warranty. At 52K the stock Conti Contacts had ~5K miles left in them, so bought some Tire Rack Goodyear Eagle GT 195/60-15s. The Goodyears have totally transformed the car from a horrible riding little truck into a car in which we both do not mind riding as passenger (needed a kidney-belt with the Conti tires). We change oil every 7500 miles with Mobile 1 and do it locally, as 'down-the-shore' here in southern NJ there are no Mini dealers. Am wondering if anyone can tell me how to reset the 'service engine' light. Same question on the tire pressure light. Since the new tires ~250 miles ago that light will not go out. How do I reset? The new tires have totally transformed the car. It is now enjoyable to drive and ride in. Wish I had known two years ago. Thanks for your help.

how to reset the TPMS system is in the owner's manual ... the button is under the hand brake handle

'service engine now' is usually an indicator of some sort of an emmisions problem and a OBD code should have been stored indicating what the car thinks is wrong. This can be cleared by any service center with an appropriate OBD code reader. Many major auto parts stores will read the codes for free but you may need to go to a mechanic to get it cleared. ANY decent mechanic should be able to read and clear the code but may not be do the work to actually fix the problem and without FIXING the problem you should not be surprised if the light comes right back. But most emmissions problems are not damaging to the car, just the environment. Common problems are bad oxygen sensors or vacume leaks.

IF what you are actually refering to is the service indicator that pops up in the odometer display telling when oil service is recommended, the procedure can be found here by a search. It has been posted many times

but as I see this is your first post, I'll give you a break:

Here is how to reset the oil service light
1) Press and hold the trip button
2) Insert key and turn to position 1
3) Watch for RESET to appear
4) Release the button, then press & hold it again
5) Wait for the RESET to flash
6) Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
7) Service interval should then be reset to next interval

note this procedure can be very 'time' sensitive with regard to when to push and when to wait, and the display hard to read {RST vs reset}. . . if the display changes expect to be going the right way. I usually have to go thru the process 3 or 4 times b4 it "takes" but it DOES work.

note 2 that the next interval will change - it does not always come up as the same number. You might see 12000, you might see 15000 . . .
