Remote control key

I'm new to the Forum and with "new" '06S a month ago. One of my electronic keys won't work at all except in ther door or ignition and I'm not near a dealer. Auto Zone couldn't open case to replace battery. Anybody have any ideas other than buying an new key and having it programed from a dealer? Tom

Give us a call when you are with all the keys you have for the car and the car and I'll walk you through a procedure to see if we can make it work.

The keyfobs for the '02-'04 models use the 2032 battery. The '05-'06 keyfobs have a battery built in that recharges when its in the ignition.

Not sure if yours is the same as an '02 but...

I was at the stealership having work done when they surprised me by fixing my key. Mine only worked in the door handle and ignition as well. I could lock it remotely but I could not unlock remotely. What happened was the sensor that the button touches broke and was sliding around loose. All they did was solder the ends back together and voilla! My key now unlocks remotely. Sweet. Pop your key open but be careful. It's a tiny part that could easily get lost if dropped.

Yup, that description is exactly correct... I spent hours checking around for an answer and didn't find this until now. I didn't have a soldering iron so just placed the tiny piece back under where the big button is pressed. Works fine now!
