after reading some posts in the "Aux Gauges" thread from a few days ago, i got the impression that the MCS doesn't have a water temp gauge. but today i found this pic:



and in the lower left corner i think i see a temp gauge.

so is that gauge for something else, or does the MCS actuall have a coolant temp gauge?

The gauge on the lower left is indeed the coolant temp. I've heard cars with navi only get an idiot light.

ok cool. that would make another reason i'm glad i didn't get the nav. thanks for clearing that up.

 

As far as I can tell, not only does the Nav-euqipped MINI not have a true temperature gauge (opting for an idiot light like on the VW New Beetle), the analog fuel gauge is replaced by an eight-segment LED bar graph under the nav system's LCD screen:
