Yeah Mark,
Great job on the calendars. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but that didn't detract from the quality! The pictures are great, and once I got past the physical size and began looking at the holidays and significant MINI days, I was like, this is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly cool. It's much more than just a picture album of cool MINI's. There's some trivia here to be learned!
And of course July is MY favorite month.

*MINIclo: No, no no... I meant that the calendar packs quite a punch
*OctaneGuy: It's a great thing that you wrote what you wrote ("...July is MY favorite month.
"
. I was just looking at the calendar earlier tonight & wondered, "Wonder who that is?" I thought that you wrote "July" because maybe that was when you started posting. Then I decided to revisit that month & shazam

The size of the calendar, as I mentioned in the original photo contest rules, was of a smaller format that what you see in Barnes and Noble. That said the size constraint was completely depenedent on the resolution that is possible from consumer digital cameras at this point in time. Unfortunately even if I had gone with a larger format calendar the pictures would be no bigger than they currently are...if enlarged they would get very grainy which would then take away from the overall quality of the calendar. With this restriction I'm still very happy with how the calendar turned out as I think it is mini like the MINI yet high quality like you would find in a bookstore.
Based on how sales of the calendar goes this year I would like to not only continue this as a yearly tradition but grow the calendar in size as high-resolution consumer digital cameras become more common. Additionally, I would like, at some point, to do a color calendar....but that totally depends on how many calendars we sell this year. Producing a calendar of this quality is VERY expensive in color (at least 3 times the cost of black and white).
So...in the meantime thanks to all those that have already purchased calendars and other NAM-related products.
Happy holidays!
Mark

Question: When was Sir Alec Issigonis born?
Answer: November 18, 1906
This, of course, I learned by perusing the 2004 North American Motoring Calendar.
And North American it definitely is! Aside from the above, and other, Mini trivia scattered throughout the calendar, there are also holidays of note from Mexico and Canada. From Victoria Day to Dia de la Raza, this calendar is for the North American motorer- hands down!
Let's not forget that this was a unique project, getting photographic submissions from actual MINI owners and putting it all together. (without MINIUSA's hands dipping in?)
Mark has done an excellent job here. The layout, the trivia, the paper quality-- all amount to a first-class publication.

Heh heh, well since I didn't submit a picture for the calendar since I still have a lowly 3.3MP camera, I guess it's safe to say I didn't bother to read the rules!
I think you have done an incredible job, and as Juan pointed out, the fact this was completely driven by members and not MINIUSA goes to show you've got a winner here! I guess it's time to get a new camera! =)
Are you marketing this calendar outside of NAM? Seems like it would be a great promotional tool to get more MINI owners involved in NAM. Maybe if MINIUSA would buy a couple hundred and post them in all of their dealers for customers to view?? Heh heh
Happy holidays!

I like the calendar a LOT. I don't really like the regular larger size calendears, because they take up too much space.
I think the size adds to the uniqueness, and the photos do look great. I love the MINI and Mini specific blurbs too.

Shipping was 8 bucks? 1lb letter USPS Priority is $3.something I think...a little less than $4.
Hell, I bought half a dozen calendars to give out as gifts. (i know it sounds egotistical but hey, i want my kids to be a little proud of their dad.) I still might order a couple more, just so Mark can put out another one next year! So come on kiddies, BUY MORE GOODIES!

>>Shipping was 8 bucks? 1lb letter USPS Priority is $3.something I think...a little less than $4.
To provide a little information on our shipping costs. Shipping via Priority Mail (which is used for almost everything because it gets your order to you more quickly and cheaply than Fedex or USPS) is $3.85 for the first pound. Additional shipping per item accounts for both additional USPS shipping charges (if over a pound) as well as a number of other behind the scenes costs that I incurr when supporting the store: the printers for the invoices and labels, inkjet cartridges, paper, labels, gas to take the packages to the post office, etc. Like anything there are additional costs behind the scenes but I strive to keep them as low as possible. As I've said many times before I appreciate everyone's purchases through the store as it helps to support the site....something that has become quite expensive, due to its size, to operate.
Thanks again and happy new year!

Love the calendar and not just because my MINI's in it. There were some really great pics. The quality is great and the size is just right. Also, bought a hat and it is already my favorite out of a massive collection. Sticker was way cool as well. Thanks Mark and keep up the good work.
Buy more stuff everybody

I'm working on it. Got a little carried away for Christmas, so I'm in the doghouse, but if I show, I'm up for autographs
That's a really fun idea.
Instant update...the wife says I can go, but no gambling. We'll see about that
