Am I overcharged for Inspection II

Hi,

I'm a new 2004 Mini Copper base model owner. I took the car to Easy Bay Mini in Pleasanton. They charged me $715 for the Inspection II, which they said it is due on the car. Since I was there I completed the service.

But later I found that Mountain View Mini is charging only $505 for this service. Also one of my co-worker said it is too expensive.

So am I ripped off or is this is normal cost for this type of service.

Thanks.

~k

Sounds like a good price either way (for a dealer anyway, stories of $1000 are around)....anyplace that does it too cheaply is likely just pretentending to look at stuff. If you look at the stuff on inspection 2, the list is very in-depth....the entire car gets a once over... IMO, have it done right. While the differance in $$ is troubling, it is likely the result of a different hourly labor rate (due to overhead, local rents, etc), and maybe not including things like the cabin filters, PCV valve, and may or may not include a brakeflush and or radior fluid change, and possibly CVT fluid change if you have one...
Dealers do cost more $$ to get stuff done, and I might suggest you find an independant shop for your next inspection...it will likely be less expensive, and still get you quality work.

the best price is all day getting intimate with your car. I can spend 6 hours going over the checklist and save $700 bucks. and I know it has been checked. Then I can spend that 700 on parts that are needed. the checklists are not complex.

Mini Inspection II

700 sounds too much. I just paid 500 in Tempe, AZ.
