When you fire up the car, it displays an estimated next service time that is not exactly equal to 10,000 - current milage. How does is come up with this number?

I had been doing more in town traffic diving and this number plus my milage would add up to less thank 10k, but after 200 freeway miles today, it comes to about 10,050. What is the deal here?

collinsc,

When i had 300 miles to go for service i would go drive 100 miles and still have 250 to go. I was told that it depends on how hard you drive it. It is not just milage but how driven.
