Cooling Fan - How do I remove it?

Need help. I have the front end torn apart - bumper skin and reinforcement beam removed, modular front end (MFE) in full extension. How does the fan come out? From behind the surrounding structure (to which the radiator attaches) towards the engine, or must I remove the radiator then slip the fan assembly through the front?

You just need to loosen the top of the radiator so you can pull it forward and remove the upper radiator hose (be careful not to spill any coolant on your alternator cause it's right underneath.) The fan just slides out the top.

No way it can be done without removing the radiator hose?

Nope. I tried for hours. Just ball up a rag and cover your alternator and pull the hose off. Some coolant will come out but not alot. You might have to bleed the system when you re-install.

Johnny is right on target. Have some items handy to support the front radiator assembly to keep it from pulling on the wiring connectors, you don't want to just let it hang there.

Here are some pics I took when replacing mine. Good time to inspect upper and lower hoses and thermostat housing for leaks. If you see white powdery residue that gasket may need to be replaced. There are updated gaskets for these which are supposed to last longer.
