DIY End user ECU Tuning

Hey ppl,

I've installed so much on my Mini and can't find a tuner anywhere near to me. I'm in Saudi Arabia and tune American vehicles, so was wondering if I could actually get some software to tune my own vehicle?

I saw MTHs package but with remote tuning I don't feel comfy in regards to doing it!

Are there any other softwares out there that could help me out??

Thanks in advance!

Jan at RMW does remote tunes with the use of a flash tool...data logging is a plus...a Dino is a plus, but it can be done with a laptop, flash tool, and e-mail. I believe WayMotorWorks just started remote tuneing...but I have not yet seen/heard of a review, method or pricing.
Not sure there are any diy tuneing methods (yet) for the mini.

Look into running a stand alone along side the stock ECU, that is probably your best bet if you want to keep the stock gauge cluster and have your own control. Given that you say you have tuned other cars you probably know what this involves, you use the aftermarket to control the engine and give the factory the info it needs to run the gauges and not throw any codes. Doable probably, but not easy if you are trying to go code free.

If I had the disposable income and a second car I would have tried this by now.

see the thing is there are ppl out there that can remote tune, and can send you a dongle/cable for you to flash the software into the obd2 port, so the only thing that is missing is an end user software. (The Tuner companies have it, but we don't!)

I'm guessing that they are still seeing a pretty good return on the time and $$ it took to crack the mini code...but as our cars age, the gen1 mini's might get a program like you a talking about released in a year ot two...still might be pricey, but a company like Dimsport is gonna do it eventually...

norris_83, there shouldn't be anything holding you back from an e-tune if you really can't come across the software to tune yourself. I'd even say that for the cost, it's probably better to get an e-tune.
