Time for a Belt change?

How long have you gone before you changed your belt? I understand that its recommended to change at 60K.

Yes it's definetly recommended at 60k, If you have a belt tool it will make your like a million times easier.

I'm at 53K, just ordered the parts / tool and will be doing it when the weather warms up a little. I am having a really really tough time not spending another $80 for an alta 15% pulley "while I'm in there".

"While your in there" may take you a bit more time for the pulley install, as you will have to lift the engine. BUT well worth it.
If not mistaken, just the belt change can be done through the wheel well cover??

Is changing the belt yourself something that someone with limited experience can do if they have the belt tool? And, is it worth it monetarily? For example, if the tool costs $90 and the belt costs $20, does it cost much more than $110 to have the dealership do it?

For one time use, probably not cost effective, but you do get the satisfaction of making sure the job is done right. I have a good independent mechanic who has tools like this, so I'm happy to pay him his shop rate to do the job and not have another one- or two-time use special tool in my box.
