Welcome to NA Motoring!
You can have your dealer give you daytime running lights. I like mine.
You may order the full switch toggle bank NOW and have your dealer install and program it for you. Tell your salesman you want the Rear Fogs and he can have the part waiting for your car and do the work before you pick it up! It gives you rear fogs lights that are a red light bulb inside the brake/rear lights your car comes with! It's not in the bumpers. It's pretty cool, I'm getting them, my part is on order.
If you get the factory front fogs, the switch is one of the toggles. If you buy Driving lights that attach to the grill on the front of the car (PIAA or HELLA) the switch is on the left hand side of the dash, like in the knee bolsters.
You should join the Can't wait for December club thread!!! You can track your car's production, watch it using the VIN as it is carried as cargo across the Atlantic, etc... The best part of a Can't Wait For club is you are meeting others who have waited just as long, or longer, for their cars and you'll be able to share information!

1) I'll get this in a sec, cant remember off the top of my head
2) You are correct, the rear fog light is the missing switch. Right now it is a dealer installed option, but will be installed at the factory come december I believe.
3) No switch, they come on with the high beams.
You wont get a VIN right away, you'll get a production # soon from your dealer (if you havent already), then you will get a VIN when your MINI gets close to production.

*Comfort open - when you hold down the wings on the remote, the windows go down and the sunroof opens (If applicable)
*Follow me home lights - allows the headlights to stay on for 40 seconds or more (programmable) after the car is turned off and locked
*Daytime Running Lamps (DRL's) - runs the high-beams de-powered at all times for improved visibility in nasty climates.
*Automatic re-locking - if you unlock the MINI but do not open the doors, it will automatically re-lock itself after 2 minutes (new for '04)
*Auto-lock at set-off - the doors and boot automatically lock after the first unlock of each startup of the MINI and after about 5MPH
*unlock doors w/e-brake - unlocks the doors after ignition is turned off when the emergency brake is engaged. Basically the opposite of "auto-lock at set-off"

Then I'd guess you won't have a car in a month. You start out getting a Production Number. Then before your car is even assembled, they will give you the total VIN number. With that total VIN number you can track your car! First the car is built, then it's taken by train to the shipping yard, loaded on a ship and 10-14 days later it's at a VPC - unless you are in the west, where the ship goes through the Panama Canal so add a week - The VPC could keep the car a week or so, maybe less and then it's trucked to your dealer. Depending on how far you are from the dealer that could take a few days too! My MINI was built on Oct 2 and I picked it up at my dealer on Nov 4 and I'm in Texas.
If you have a Production Number - call 1 866 ASK-MINI
and have them tell you what they know about your car. Most of the reps are very nice and helpful. If you get one who doesn't want to be at work that day, hang up and call back and talk to a nice one! With your Production Number, you can sign up on the Owner's Lounge on MINIUSA site. I was first told the VIN number and a couple days later I saw it was listed in the Lounge too!

It's best to join a "Can't wait for Dec" club so you are hanging with others who are also waiting.
