What Part Is This?

Hello,

2004 Mini Cooper.

This past weekend I found a large hole in a rubber pipe that connects (near) the oil fill cap and the air filter. What is its name and function? How much is this part?

Thank you in advance.

Les

Sounds like the PCV line.....a picture would help!!
Vent hose 111157510750 $15.37 most likely.....

Realoem.com is a great resource.....put in your info, look at the picture, then write down the number!! You then can get the part from any one of a number of places....dealer, etc.

I'm having trouble getting picture/diagram in, but here is a shortcut that should show you a diagram!!

The close up.....

Good luck!!

Thank you for your suggestion. And you are right; a picture would have made this so much easier... but my schedule precludes that unfortunately till the weekend.

Anyway, the rubber hose in question connects to the small nozzle in front of the oil cap, on the right side of the second picture. I have searched Realoem.com to no avail...

Another stab would be much appreciated. Thanks again.

If I'm reading you correctly, it's your crankcase vent line that goes from the valve cover to the intake boot. If it is disconnected, or has a hole in it, you probably have a oil slick in your engine bay. Do you?

Luckily, no. My engine bay is clean.

By the way, thanks to everyone for having looked at the post. I won't waste your time any longer; I have uploaded a drawing with the nozzle (that the hose is connected to at one end) marked in blue.

Thanks again everyone.

thats the crankcase ventilation. strange that you do not have oil spatter in the engine bay; I guess you got lucky!

Thanks again for the info.

By the way, what is the function of this part? Yes, I'm lucky that no oil leaked (visibly), considering how worn the hose was. (I currently have duct tape surrounding it.) And any info as to where I may be able to order this part would be appreciated. It doesn't look as if it will cost much...
