Is there any way to tell the difference between the interior of an S and the interior of a Cooper, excluding the fact that some Coopers don't have sport seats or manuals?

If the interior trim is Alloy Patina, it must be a Cooper S. Also, Space cloth and Lapis Leather are S only options. Emerald leather, Profile leather, and Kaleido black and red cloths are Cooper only upholsteries. In terms of equipment options, the only visual clue is the shift ****; obviously the CVT is easy to spot, however the shift-gate insert on the Cooper shift-**** is black, whereas the insert on the Cooper S is Pearl white.

hope that helps,
Cheers,
Ryan

Hmm, well, there are colour differences, like you can only get the S in Black or Lapis Blue... a Lapis interior doesn't get you a blue shift ****, floormats or door trim though. The S also comes standard with a machined-look trim.

Base can be in black, red, grey, beige or green.

Both can have anthracite or silver trim, and black or great door panels. S comes standard with sport seats and lumbar.

In the MCS you will find these that are not found on the MC (any version):
6 speed shift ****
metal and rubber pedals (four)
Space cloth upholstery or Lapis Blue or Black Gravity Leather

In the MC you will find these that are not found on the MCS:
5 speed shift **** or CVT shifter
Non-sport padded seats
Red or grey kaleido cloth
Natural green or profile leather
Standard 2 spoke (normal and leather)steering wheel

Sarcux: just to clarify - only the optional leather comes with lumbar adjustment, and lumbar adjustment is not standard on the MCS.

From '04 on, only Black doors for the MCS (except the Cordoba leather, which has beige doors and carpet), and the Lapis leather comes with blue carpeting. Black or grey doors are still available on the Cooper - if you get grey door panels, you also get grey lower interior plastic and carpeting.

Andrewsky - all this info is on MINI USA's webpage, check it out.
