hey all. i have a CVT Cooper and im having a slight problem with it and im hoping u guys have had the same problem and are able to tell me what is the cause of this problem!!
It started about 3 weeks ago wen i first got me car. i decided to put regular unleaded fuel in my car and it was also the same time i put my K&N intake filter on. i noticed the car was running as sick as a dog(really laggy and not very responsive) so i decided to put my stock air filter back on to determine if that was the cause....it wasnt. i then put premium unleaded fuel in the tank and then the car was back 2 normal and it was amazing how quickly the car responded 2 the change of petrol(i was told maybe the computer remapped itself)since then the car has been going GREAT  up until last thursday(5 days ago). it isnt revving freely or response at all, wen i put it into SD from D it just doesnt rev(normally it revs right up until redline, it now struggles 2 get to 4500rpm) and it also stalled this morning!! i used 2 enjoy driving my car now i honestly dont!!
im going 2 the dealers in two weeks 2 get my transmission reprogrammed and i told them about my new problem today and they said this problem will cease once they install the updated software. has this happened 2 anyone b4? and if so what is the actual course??

Howzit, SYDMINI! My CVT stalled twice early on (was running on 89 back then). Had the software upgraded soon thereafter (& have been on 92 since, no less ...learned my lesson for good). Since then, my CVT has been smooth. Well, on real hot days -- after I've parked in the sun & had the a/c blasting while driving off -- there has been the occasional power struggle. Overall though, I've got no complaints. I love it! Hey, I've got a question for all you CVTs: does yours struggle from around 95 to around 105+ mph?? Mine takes a while to get to the latter. However, getting to around 95 is a breeze ...

You've driven your MC at 105+ mph? Where? You'd run out of road in a hurry in Hawaii.

In Hawaii our fuel is 87 octane for regular unleaded, 89 octane for unleaded plus and 92 octane for premium.

*SYDMINI: my bad for not clarifying those octane details . Take it easy...

*minihune: hey, Doc! This is not good but when I find a stretch with no cars around... I let 'er rip. Dumb, yeah? Can't wait for Spring Fling . How's your recovery coming along, pal??

*SYDMINI: Sydney?? That's awesome

*minihune: oh yeah, I do run outta straight road (I take no chances around bends). Where, you ask? I prefer to not say on NAM . Also, I truly do make sure that no one's around...

Only been to Hawaii once, last April before my MINI. Would like to Motor with NAM someday. If I recall correctly there was a patch across the interior on Oahu out by the Dole plantation that would allow some speed.
