As promised in my previous post, I did my homework as assigned. A bottle of Newcastle Brown opened nicely on the door latch, just as CooperBeagle said. Unfortunately, a bottle of Maker's Mark Bourbon did not.

Definitely a beer car. It's incorporated into the design! (tailpipe).

>>More or less a moot point nowadays, since so many have twist-off caps now. I havent tried the door latch strikes yet, they are the first thing that comes to mind that might work. If all else fails, I either use a table edge or my teeth (seriously!).

Yeah, all the crap beers have twist offs. When was the last time you drank something NOT made by a Bush or Miller owned company?

Orbhot-- Well, Corona comes to mind... And the image of Corona realy is a nice fit for MINI... Of course it's not British, but it is FUN and an ESCAPE from the same old... Still, maybe it's time to see what my local grocer is carrying by way of British brews!

God speed.

IMO Cornonas are really good when ice cold as a thirst quencher. Negro Modelo, though, is my favorite Mexican beer. I just consider them different beverages than beers from the Isles.

To get back with this thread, I agree that real beer isn't supposed to have screw off caps. A small joy of life is popping the caps off. That we're finding so many ways our Minis can be part of the the ceremony only adds to that beerly tradition.

Gotta go. Gettin thirsty...

BEER BOTTLE UPDATE!!! In the never ending quest
to discover the usefulness of the MINI, I have found
another place to open a bottle of beer with your car:
The seatbelts in the back seats have the metal piece
that goes into the buckle... with just a little practice,
they work well. I think that makes nine places to open
a beer with your MINI!
(Remember: Never drink and drive!)

Godspeed.

>>I used to be able to get 7 oz bottles of Guinness (years ago) back east (and 7 oz Old Vienna's across the border in Canada ... ) and that was a perfect size to carry in the old Mini for 'emergencies' - there were several places on those cars too that could be used to pop a top; in a pinch, the Guinness could be used to top up the oil too ...

Just say OV add an L add an E and you have love.... LOVE OV. Oh, the memories of 3 OV splits for a dollar. Made by O'Keefe "good for what Ales you".

This thread is so beautiful I can't even describe it.
One of my favorite quotes: "I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they get up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day." -Frank Sinatra
By the way, I have one wicked fang now from opening a Corona with my teeth in college. It is NOT recommended.

OK, I have the ultimate UK beer one must try. Skull Splitter! An ale from northern Scotland.

One slip during the opening and you will banging your head so hard it will split.

And at 8.5% ABV, enough of them will split ya head the old-fashion way....
