hOW CAN i TELL IF MY car has LSD ?
Trying to buy a 2005 JCW S and would like to verify if the car really fitted
with LSD.

Can I jack up the front, turn the front wheels and if the wheels turn in the
same direction (say clockwise) that means with LSD?

I thought the JCW has red brake caliper? This one I'm buying don't have red brakes....something fishy.

Which way the other wheel turns has nothing to do with whether it has LSD or not. If the tranny is in gear, the other wheel will turn backwards from the one you are turning on all versions. That is just the way the gears work.

Well, I'm talking if its in neutral.
If you turn the wheels clockwise, the other tire should turn clockwise too
if there is an LSD?

If no LSD the other tire will turn the opposite way?

 

Only way i know is to drive it, take it through turns, or spin the tires, do a burnout maybe. If one wheel is spinning more then you dont have one, if they both spin equally u have one.

As far as the brakes go, a jcw from the factory would have red brakes wih jcw logo, if the person ur buying from or someone before got jcw parts installed after at the dealer, then they may hav opted for only engine parts, or only suspension, or suspension and engine but no brakes.

You should be able to tell jcw parts like exhaust, and some badging in the engine bay, intake intercooler shroud and what not.

 

Can you tell me if this car has JCW options - In the pictures can you tell what are JCW installed? A bunch of emblems but not too sure what has been JCW added.
Perhaps you can tell: I have to make a decision to buy this car today.
I worry, if it is just a bunch of emblems...or just suspensions works.

front bumper has small crack issue at the bottom -- no big deal

 

It appears as though you have the JCW dealer installed engine package. No JCW brakes or suspension.

This can all be verified at the dealer. They can look up the VIN and tell you what has been done to the car by any dealer in the country.

looks like the engine bay has jcw options, its hard to tell everythning,

on the r53 supercharged mini jcw options include
intake- it has this
injectors-prob has this
different head, slightly ported or somn
and ecu programming-prob has this
exhaust - tips should hav a logo
brakes-red with logo
suspension, if u look under the wheel arch it should hav red springs, and under the car a red rear sway bar perhaps

I think the car you are looking at had its options added at the dealer, after it came from the factory, if it came from the factory it should have a certificate

definatley looks like it has the engine options, hte interior shot doesnt indicate anything really

if you get more pics of suspension components, exhaust, more engine bay pics could maybe help u more but from what i just told u should be able to figure out

whats hte mileage, price, and carfax,

 

I have the Vin # and I will start looking for the nearest Mini dealer in my area. Also, I found the JCW authenticity # S6084 at the engine compartment.

By the way, is there any phone # I can call just in case it's not dealer installed?

I would like to replace it. Where do I buy the same front bumper -- good price.

 

just some jcw autheentication, tell that to dealer, thats a good price tho, especially for 05. ifit hasnt been wrecked. if it hasnt been wreckeed buy that no matter what. drive it to and maybe get it checked out by a mechanic maybe.

i think its a good deal, does it hav any warranty left, u ubying dealer or private seller
