There is a vendor sticky from AutoXCooper advertising a Curt hitch with a version for 'every' Mini from 2002-2010. However, the installation and ordering instructions are silent on R53/R50. What gives?

The issues is the rear backup lap in the bumper of the early MINI's. Since Curt can't legally say "remove the backup light" they are not going to show install info that does. The Curt 11130 will fit your MINI but the Backup light will be removed when hitch is in use.

Take a look at this link for install http://www.autoxcooper.com/pdf/MINI_...1130_Hitch.pdf the same basic install for both R53 and R56S also not the models listed at top of PDF and the note about the light. It's just a legal CYA move.

I've been searching for weeks on this! I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they kept saying it wouldn't work. I understand legalities and ensuring public safety, but come-on they could have just said "Yes it fits but it is not designed, nor intended for use with the R53's... Case closed, messege rec'd, place order... Happy customer. Thank You again.
