Hi all,
I am about to attempt my first mod on my newly purchased 06 MCS checkmate.

I got a great deal on 2 boxes of Hella Comet 200 driving lights (4 lights altogether). Each set comes with mounting brackets specifically designed for the Mini. What I didn't consider before purchasing was that none of the mounting brackets are ideal for mounting the 2 lights that will be nearer the middle of the bonnet.
I have tried positioning them and can make it work with washers etc. but then the lights are too close together.
I think that the only way I can make it work is if I cut out part of the black plastic which is behind the grill on the far left and right.
Any ideas?

 

you might mount one pair of brackets as far apart as possible and then fabricate a cross bar between the brackets allowing positioning of the lights anywhere on the bar.

or fabricate a short cross bar on each bracket allowing two lights to be mounted per bracket.
