I was wondering how many parts the OEM exhaust is comprised of, I'm replacing it with one I bought from Alta (cat back exhaust system) at a friend's home & I want to make sure I can fit the old exhaust in the back of the car.

 

the OEM system is one unit, really long and wide. It bolts up near the shifter and runs to the back in one long part.

 

That's what I thought. I wasn't sure if I could fit it in the back of the R53 for the trip home.

I believe I saw a picture of the stock exhaust in the back of an MCS but obviously the hatch wouldn't close. Someone posted it as a joke ... something about hey look at this guys setup since it looked like he had 2 exhausts. Maybe someone else has the link.

 

Because this install was performed at a friends home we went ahead & cut the exhaust pipe so it would fit in the R53. If I ever put it back on it be repaired with some skilled wielding.
