Opinion on 2004 Mini

Just dropped in to say hi. I'm currently an Evo driver but always loved minis. I'm presently looking at one for a possible 3rd car for my kids and just wanted some opinions.

I found a 2004 Mini automatic for $9700 with 60,000 miles on it. It has FM/AM/CD, Navigation, AC, Leather. I've yet to check out the car.

1.Is that a decent price assuming fair condition?
2.What should I look out for in a 2004 mini with 60k miles.
3.Any large expenses in the near future (timing belt, power steering, etc.)?
4.Any good mini shops in the Bay Area (Santa Clara County)?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased a used '04 MINI and have had minimal problems with it.
My car also has about 60k miles and I'd say that's a pretty good price.
My car is an MCS and 6 speed.
Your kids will love the MINI.

I also have purchased a 2004 MCS same options almost except I have the manual. looks like a very good price, so far I have put almost 30 k on the car in 15 months, a few minor things but enjoying it much

Thanks for the replies. After researching the forums, I am concerned about the CVT tranny. Maybe I should hold out for a 2005/2006?

Avoid the CVT. The manual is better, but not great.

Opinion on 2004 Mini

As "Some Guy" has said: AVOID the CVT.
The five speed is better but the best bet would be
the 2005 or 2006 MCS that has the automatic transmission.

Hope this helps...
