R50/53 Supercharger?
Supercharger?
Hello All,
I've just bought a 2004 Mini Cooper S (6 speed) here in Kuwait. This is my first MC and I have the stupidest question ever. I'm reading a lot about the 15% Supercharger pulley. My question is, how do I know if my MC has a supercharger? I don't know exactly what a supercharger is. Does adding the 15% pulley make a MC a supercharger? Or is there actually a block of some sort that is the supercharger in which changing out to the 15% pulley improves the supercharger?
The previous owner has made no modification to the MCS. I've tried to pull up the VIN online but it seems that the MCS that I have is European made.
Any clarification on this subject would be great.

If it says S, it has a supercharger; hence the letter
.
since you said mini cooper S, then yes you have one. vroom vroom, pop pop burble chicka boom boom! (or whatever noise it is superchawgers make)
smaller pulleys (larger percentage reduction 15%-17%-19%) gives your supercharger better boost.
And welcome to nammers! i just realized i been a member for a year

Just a point of clarification: When John Cooper added the "S" to the original Mini Cooper S, he did not say what the S meant. People later speculated that it might designate "special" or "super" (the original Cooper S was not supercharged), but he never confirmed one or the other. The same applies to the current MINI.

Did chevy try to be cooler and give the cobalt two S's?
Too soon?
