Just got a pre-owned about a month ago...couldn't afford the maintenance contract at dealership so i opted to go it alone for that...

any tips on:

-oil type/brand?
-coolant type/brand? (does this really matter in southern cal? )

-brake fluid type/brand?

-anything else i should know?

Genuine MINI coolant/distilled water 50/50 mix
cheap online, or cheaper on ebay, can substitute for any well known "extended-life" coolant ie: prestone, peak, etc

-brake fluid type/brand? Castrol GT LMA Brake Fluid
cheap at Kragens, too
-anything else i should know?
oem oil filters, oem cabin filters and oem NKG plugs all cheaper online vendors here on NAM and eBay
