I kinda like it! Theres another suzuki model in Japan that looks almost exactly like the classic mini! Except its cheap and plasticy looking.

Kinda looks like the photo of the concept for the reborn Suzuki Espresso that I saw in Car last month. That was a pretty small pic, and I don't have it in front of me right now, so I could be wrong. Sure looks like it though. If memory serves, there's a convertible version in the works, too. The original Espresso was a pretty fun car, as long as you remembered you were driving a sporty, not sports car. Seat recently unveiled a vaguely similar concept (albeit rather better looking).

It's part of Japan's eternal fascination for tiny, overengineered hatchbacks. I remember Honda used to have a mid-engined, RWD convertible called the Beat. It was about the smallest thing you could fit 4 wheels on, but was something else to drive. Like a mini-MR-S. If not for the MINI, I'd still be shaking my head at the American market's refusal to accept hot hatches (other than the GTI, which needs to diet, and the MCS).

About a year ago, I went out for a wild night on the town. Since I always drive, and so does one of my friends, we both parked next to eachother.

I unfortunately got a little tipsy and decided that I didn't want to drive home (hime neither) so we both took a cab home.

The next morning I rushed to the parking lot and found MY Mini and HIS FOCUS getting better acquainted.

I thought that was the end of that story until today when I open MCO and saw the Suzuki...now I know she got pregnant.

hehehehe... that is soooo very interesting.

I typically HATE suzukis, yet I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. Very "Back to the Future"- retro yet modern. I do know that I hate the tail lights and the pointed side windows. I also don't like the slightly PT-Cruiser like wheel bulges.

The interior looks like a SPACE SHIP!!! I think I could have fun with that. I think it might be a little to edgy and ricer for my taste. Its definitely unique in many of its own ways, but they are ripping MINIs off MAJORLY with the design. I truly wonder who they are trying to market towards with this car. I'll bet the majority of its future drivers will be young street racers.

Besides, do any of us really want a Japanese version of the MINI??
