R50/53 Momo Shift Knob Install
Momo Shift **** Install
Hi all!
I know there are a few threads on here regarding momo shift **** installs, but the ones I've found have had broken links and missing pictures.
I just got a GREAT deal on a MOMO shift **** on ebay, but it didnt come with the rubber reducer rings. Firstly, how important are they? Could we get something at a hardware store that would work as well?
Secondly, in my search for installation notes I've seen a lot of comments about cutting the shifter rod or filing it down. Is there no other way to make this work? I'd like to be able to keep it as reversable as possible in case I ever go crazy and want to sell Stella.
Anyway, whatever suggestions or knowledge you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get it installed tomorrow morning if possible.
Thanks everyone!!
Melissa

I'm not too familiar with Momo ***** construction but, the "reducer" rings are very important. They keep the slop/free play, wobble out. Also if there is no locating tab/pin that sucker will spin in your hands. Some places sell adapters but not sure if they work with Momo. Contact me via pm. I have a few solutions.

for future reference, if anyone else searches this thread, we ended up removing the OEM ****, using a dremel to grind down the plastic ring to drop the momo **** down, which worked really well. (pics in gallery) Its still sitting high, but I kind of like it. In order to drop the **** any lower, the shift rod itself would have to be cut or ground down as well.
