R50/53 West coast dock workers on strike?
I just heard there was a lockout... but did you hear how much the union dock workers make? 75 to 100k a year??? I'm in the wrong line of busness... I just love how the problem this time mirrors the problems they had back in the early 70's when they were against cargo containers, they only wanted manual loaded ships.

My stepdad is the VP of the local union in one port-states (where Mini's arrive) and if my Mini doesn't come in on time I'm going to light a fire up his and his union friends a*#. Strike when you're making what laborers here in Arizona are making, not when you're making serious bank.
Worst regard,
The very scary J.

>>HEYY GUYS, Do not be so negative, if the dock workers goes on strike, just remember what happen on the 70´s whne both ports, San Francisco and Long Beach
>>closed, all the merchandise and cars was delivered via Ensenada, Baja.
Let me tell you what happened "last time". I had just gotten married, spent a month in Europe with my bride, living out of our (new) BMW 2002, and then had the 2002 shipped back. My car had just been shipped when we found out that the Longshoremen had decided to strike.
After the container ship (my car was supposed to be in a container... another story.... it looked like it had spent the voyage on the deck) arrived off the port of Long Beach, my new car sat for 6 MONTHS right off shore; I could SEE the bloody boat! Then, after the strike was settled, they were so eager to get back to work that they CRUSHED all four fenders, while offloading the car. My first new car. The fuel had gummed up in the engine, etc; the car never did work right until (years later) I had the entire engine rebuilt. This is bringing back very BAD memories.
How did they find out I was ordering another car!!!?
