R50/53 Which warranty to get, or both?
Which warranty to get, or both?
I just purchased an 06 JCW about a week ago. Very happy to be back into a Mini
I brought it in do the Mini Dealer here in Charlotte, and they informed me my Mini is still within its 3 year/36K mile maintenance warranty till the end if June. They offer an extended maintenance plan, which basically takes the factory one and extends it another 3 years/100K miles. It would cost me $1295 if I want to do this.
They also informed me that next year at this time the other 4 year/50K miles warranty will be up. Again, they offer an extended warranty for another 3 years/100K miles. However this one will cost me closer to $2000.
Now my Mini is a one owner car with only 22k on it. It looks to be taken care of very well. I just brought it in for service and I am having them do everything I can think of to the car.
Do you think its worth buying both plans, or is one going to be better over the other? I plan to keep the car a minimum of 36 months, and I drive close to 20K a year.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ken~

If you need peace of mind I would just get the powertrain. Get you routine Maintenance done at a local shop with a good rep or do it yourself once you have changed most of the fluids in your car you'll be good for 36 months
Thats what I was thinking. I am trying to go through what it would cost me if I don't get the extended maintenance warranty. I figure if I keep it for 36 months, that is only 3 oil changes, so less than $300. Rattle noises and things like that I can fix myself.
I plan to on Monday when it goes to the dealer to have them do as much as I can get them to do. Any suggestions on what I can have them do?
