R50/53 axle removal

axle removal

how do you remove axles from auto transmission? most cars they just pop out these dont seem to budge do you need a special tool? thanks

Use a prybar. They'll come right out.

Don't forget the carrier bearing that bolts to the block. Passenger side axle has this. Unless the auto doesn't.

All MINI's have the carier bearing for the pass side axle. I thought he was asking just how to get them out of the trans. The clip on the drivers side is sometimes a pain.

is that carrier bearing different for a 2003 MC versus a 2005 MCS?
