R50/53 car service after warranty
car service after warranty
Do you guys find yourself a local mechanic when your original warranty runs out or do you continue to let the dealer fix your car? I prefer the dealer because they specialize on minis but now that i think about it, i can give a local mechanic my mini service manual and save some money.
I've done all my own work, my Mini has only been to the dealer for its "scheduled free" service. As long as its not some weird electrical bug, I think any decent service garage would do fine.

I am in this position myself, and researching topics to DIY guides. Although I wouldn't pick just any mechanic, do your research and find a shop that specializes in MINI and BMWs. I found a shop about 45 minutes from me but have yet to visit.
For the last three years we have been collecting information to use when our MCS goes out of warranty. Since the closest dealer is 3 hours away, I wanted some options when the warranty expires. It's interesting to note how much can be saved in the Mini aftermarket parts and service arena.
Try to find someone that specializes. It makes a big difference, I can work on any car, but can't offer service like I do for MINI's and BMW's so I just stick with what I know.
Where are you located? I'm sure NAM can help you find someone.
