hi,
my friend and i have been arguing about whether or not it is legal to take off the front licence plate. would anyone have any information about it?

Ask you local dept of motor vehicles or the people that handle the license plates.
Or you can ask your local police dept what the rules our.
In my state you must have a front license plate but rules will vary.

According to postings on a previous thread, some states require them while others don't, and in those that do enforcement and amount of fines is pretty variable too. Some said they just left em off and have never been stopped while others just pay an occasional $10 fine as the cost of being free of them. Then again, others said they had whopping fines levied after being stopped.

I agree. check what the rules and fine is in your provence.

take it off in PA, no troubles... although I left my own, the dealer put their emblem on it, so I figured I'd keep it since i liked the service

I removed my Connecticut plate a year ago and no one has said anything to me yet!
