Short vs Long block?

What do people mean when they say "short block" or "long block" in relation to Coopers?

Thanks in advance!

Short block usually means the bottom end of the engine, meaning block, pistons, crank rods.

Long block usually refers to all the above and the cylinder head with valvetrain.

True. This is pretty much general engine terminology.

Hmmm... I may have heard that before but just thought it was like small/big block. Then when I hear people mentioning that about MINIs I thought "but we've all got 1.6s!" then I wondered if it was the stroke because I've heard people mention "stroker" engines. Anyway, good to know!
